Help us finish what we started and get her sailing again.

Restoration of Mast

Mast Restoration: approx. $10,000
Truant’s mast is solid Sitka spruce, the traditional choice for classic wooden spars. Your donation will help cover its full restoration:
Removal of all bronze and stainless steel fittings
Two 12:1 scarf joints at the spreaders to repair the spar
Stripping of the old varnish
A minimum of 12 coats of new varnish
Every contribution brings her closer to the water. Your gift helps return Truant to her original beauty.

Restoration of Cockpit

Cockpit Restoration: approx. $6,000
Years of water damage have taken their toll on Truant’s cockpit, and it needs a full rebuild. Your donation will help cover:
Removal of the old cockpit floor and the cockpit [pinnacle]
Rebuilding the cockpit floor so the steering section and quadrant are secure and functional
Replacement of the teak top
Refitting of the cockpit hatch once the new floor and teak top are in place
The cockpit benches use a hinged bracket system that lets water penetrate the mahogany. This restoration addresses the source of that damage so the cockpit can last for years to come.
Every contribution brings her closer to the water. Your gift helps return Truant to her original beauty.

Restoration of Deck

Deck & Frame Repair: approx. $10,000
Truant’s original deck was sheathed in fiberglass, which restricted the natural movement of the wood and let water seep into the core of the plywood. Your donation will help cover a full deck repair:
Removal of the toe rails and all deck hardware
Stripping of the original plywood
Removal of any soft ribs underneath
Replacement of the deck with new marine-grade plywood
Fiberglassing, paint, and a final coat
This restoration should extend the life of the deck by another 20 years.
Every contribution brings her closer to the water. Your gift helps return Truant to her original beauty.
