Truant

Truant is a 1964 Francis Kinney “Pipedream” sloop — mahogany on oak frames, built at the Smith and Rhuland Shipyard in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, the same yard that built the legendary Bluenose. For over sixty years she’s proven herself a true seaworthy masterpiece, never more so than the day she carried our son Morgan — just three months old — across the Bay of Fundy in gale-force winds, with following seas two to three stories high. Truant performed exactly as a boat of her pedigree should: steady, capable, and true. Now, after decades on the water and years of careful restoration, she needs our help to finish the journey. This page is where we’ll share the work still ahead, and how you can be part of bringing her home.
